Playboy Condom
Packaging Design . 3D Exploration .
My Role :Â
Product Designer
Duration :Â
3 weeks
Goal :Â
To pick one brand and understand its packaging functional aspects such as holding and protecting its contents from damage; transportation, manufacture; distribution & graphic design elements on the surface of the package that result in compelling communication.
Tools :Â
Fusion 360, Keyshot
Solution :Â
To make a combo pack for this brand & to show how it can be used as a secondary packaging as well.
Overview
I selected the Playboy brand due to their predominant focus on single-use condom packaging & the limited availability of combo packs.

Process
The first step was to identify issues with existing condom packaging and select 2-3 problem areas needing improvement or alternative solutions. Key issues included the need for clearer messaging on the packaging, less graphic designs, and the lack of combo packs, as the brand currently sells condoms only in separate packs.

Iterations
Considering the key problem areas, I began drafting packaging sketches with various shapes and forms and pitched the process of how the new packaging would work.

Playboy combo pack of 4
The concept is a stack - up packaging & each pack of condom is different from the previous & made sure that the packaging is not too graphic but rather playful (each box is stacked up to make a bunny.), and the lid comes with clear instructions.

Key Learning & Conclusion
Packaging design provided me with an early introduction to exploring materials, creating prototypes, working with renders and 3D models. Through this project, I learned the importance of conducting user surveys, drafting initial interview questions, and preparing consent forms. Additionally, this experience broadened my perspective on brainstorming exercises and ideation processes.
